Africa Of Mine
We have always tried different ways. Most of the time we were lucky. And then we have set up the sports hall and created perfect surrounding for training. Perfect match!
Entering the sports hall makes you feel excided by the scene of a fairytale of athletics. The only problem remains that you cannot take all your things along with you as you move. It made me feel like a hostage in a golden cage.
We have started preparations for Olympic year along with deciding to arrange everything in the sports hall by the first week of January. With that the hard work has been done, and our journey to South African Republic began.
We had a pleasant flight by night, and the morning welcomed us at 30 Celsius in plus. It took a few days to get myself together. The suite we were given had a working, sports touch. We took the car we rented to do shopping for lunch. I didn’t mind cooking because I like to cook, and no one can make the best meals for me but me, especially after all the years experimenting. I also got use to driving on left.
Eligible smoothness of the track, two gyms, the stadium crowded with athletes from all around the world – it all resulted with working atmosphere in during worm African summer day. Everybody is minding their own business not caring about anything else.
It took a few days to fully relax and forget the obligations I left at home, and then yet could I entirely give myself to the pleasure of African sun.
We spent our evenings by the pool, in the company of a Swedish team who we get a log with since before. Surrounded by plants on dry air which can reach up to 38 degrees during day, I steal some time to sunbath.
It’s easy to catch color in this air, if you are lucky enough to have good genes. I, certainly, am. I’m taking the privilege to be lazy and miss the planed excursions when we have no trainings arranged, but I promise to visit them all. Some time…
We have a saying to put a little stone in your shoe when everything goes right. Well, I won’t need one with this Achilles of mine, even though it gives me some worries now or then. But therefore I become more eager to try on my new sprinter shoes that just arrived.
At the end, this Africa Of Mine could surely become a hidden place for every January during my carrier. I wish…
